Treasurer: Ruth Tobie

RuthTobieandKittRuth Tobie became a cat owner at the age of three, when her parents finally allowed her to pick out a barn cat on her aunt and uncle’s dairy farm in northern Minnesota. That “White Momma Cat” began a succession of cats and kittens over many years, and at one time their household included two momma cats with 18 kittens between them. Added to these were strays and injured cats Ruth found—or that found her. After graduating with a two-year college degree, Ruth began an office career working with a vending company before deciding to leave the cold of Minnesota for Florida. She worked for a marine contractor on Marco Island for 18 years, a crane company in Naples for 9 years, and presently works in the accounting department at DIVCO Construction, a luxury home builder in Naples. At home, she is proudly owned by three cats at the present time, all rescues of some kind, but there is always room for more. Ruth’s real passion is caring for feral cats, and she maintains three colonies on Marco Island and two in Naples. She has been a part of For the Love of Cats since its inception and serves as FLC’s bookkeeper, as well as occasionally working in the shelter, and joining in on several trapping escapades.
